The killer whale or orca (Orcinus orca) is a toothed whale belonging to the oceanic dolphin family, of which it is the largest member. Killer whales have a diverse diet, although individual populations often specialize in particular types of prey. Some feed exclusively on fish, while others hunt marine mammals such as seals and dolphins. They have been known to attack baleen whale calves, and even adult whales. Killer whales are apex predators, as there is no animal that preys on them. Killer whales are considered a cosmopolitan species, and can be found in each of the world's oceans in a variety of marine environments, from Arctic and Antarctic regions to tropical seas. This orca watch, the third in the "Under the Sea" series was created with 13 pieces of tinted abalone, Mother of Pearl and black stained maple.
As always, this watch keeps perfect time with a Swiss quartz movement and has a sapphire crystal installed instead of glass so that it will never scratch, crack or cloud.
* The shell used is harvested and managed under strict fishing quotas. Only the waste shell is used. The shades, patterns, and color variations are inherent natural characteristics. No two watches are ever identical.
Shell: Mother of Pearl and abalone shell.
Case: 35mm polished stainless steel, scratch resistant sapphire glass, water resistant to 30 meters.
Movement: The heart of the watch - is a Swiss quartz movement (cell 364). Standard battery life is 40 months. Power saving mechanism with pulled-out stem: Reduction of consumption by approximately 70%.
Hands: Three hands - standard hours, minutes and seconds indication.
Bands: All bands are hand-sewn vegetable-tanned goat leather that will feel soft and luxurious next to your skin.
Vegetable-tanned leather, made with natural tannins, looks and feels more natural and has a beautiful texture of color. Over time, the band will improve. If you've ever seen a leather jacket or bag that looks beautifully aged, it's probably vegetable-tanned leather. Vegetable-tanned leather develops a patina over time, giving the leather a soft sheen and beautiful depth of color. The patina develops in response to usage and exposure to sunlight and heat, making each item truly unique to the owner. Vegetable-tanned leather also often smells sweet and earthy, rather than the chemical, synthetic smell of chrome-tanned leather.
- It is extraordinarily scratch-resistant. Sapphire has a value of 9 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness. This makes it the 3rd hardest natural substance next to moissanite (synthetic diamonds) and diamonds.
- Clearer than glass.
- Less reflections than glass.
- Its fracture toughness is around 4 times greater than that of Gorilla Glass.
